Vita has finally reached the hands of Americans that have been waiting since December to get their hands on one. I myself could not afford one at this time, but guarantee you I am still just as excited and will be getting one as soon as I can get the money for it. This platform definitely has the potential to take the industry by storm, if its played out right that is. The biggest thing that is coming to this platform is the ability to cross play with the PS3, allowing you to play with PS3 players when you are on the go. This is definitely going to allow people to expand their friends list greatly and allow Playstation users to come together as one large community, no longer separated by what system they own. To me, Sony needs to lay all their cards out on the table and get this platform fine tuned to meet every gamer's wants and needs, and if they can, I truly believe it can make Nintendo and potential Microsoft start to struggle with their current systems.
Another huge strong point with integrating the Vita with the PS3 is going to be the option for the gamer to be able to transfer your games and saves over to the PS3, clearing up more room on your Vita, and quickly being able to get your games back onto your Vita quickly using the USB cord and plugging it into your PS3, transferring your files between the two quickly and easily. The reason that I feel that it can dominate over the 3DS, right now, there is no where to store saves or info from your 3DS, the Wii certainly cannot handle it. The current campaign for the Vita is never stop playing, and the potential for this happening on the Vita is absolutely there, especially with an OLED screen, and 60 fps, basically making this a PS3 on the go.
Okay, great, the Vita is going to be an amazing gaming machine, cool, but that's it right? Wrong, the Vita is going to basically also function like a computer or smart phone. There are going to be many Day 1 apps like Netflix, Facebook, Live Tweet, and Flicker, with many more apps to come, potentially allowing this to function like an Iphone, there is even going to be an upcoming Skype app, as soon as it is fully tested and functioning. So Sony, please back up this platform, it has the potential, just make sure to provide enough support to get this platform to not take 2 years to take effect, make it happen there, the funding is there, the potential is there, use it. If you have your pre-order in, enjoy it tomorrow, if not, highly consider getting this platform as it will hopefully be one of the most successful platforms out there.
