Borderlands: Game Of The Year Edition

Editor's note: I am structuring this review differently for this game for two reasons. One: I don't want to spoil anything at all, and anything I could mention would spoil for you. Two: This game takes a long time, and frankly, I am still not done with it. But never fear, with as far as I am, I can confidently tell you about this game.
2K and Gearbox Software have created one of the most ultimate RPG open world looting madness games. Welcome to the world of Pandora, where everything is game, and you are one mission: find the vault with the ultimate treasure inside. Seems easy, right? Completely and utterly wrong. The whole time you have other 'residents' of Pandora searching for the same vault, and times are tough, so it's every man for himself, as well as battling the local 'wildlife' which has been mutated over the years , and they are just hungry, and you look tasty.
This game gives a gamer the best of both worlds, a first person shooter, and an RPG. For me, this was one of my first RPG games, and I was worried I wouldn't like it and wasted my money, however, Gearbox has done an exquisite job at balancing out both genres to please all gamers. Looting is a major part of this game and by looting everything you see, you have the potential to pick up rare guns or other loot when you kill an enemy. You never know what type if loot you are going to get from each enemy, so you have to fight them like each one could drop the rarest items, and the potential for that happening is very possible. This game is very co-op friendly, however this makes the game harder, but the loot better, as well as your fellow player could steal all the loot that an enemy drops, so its always best to play with someone you know and trust to split the loot with fairly.
While this game is a blast to play and you can invest hundreds of hours on looting alone, there is a story during your game. However, don't go into this game expecting a great story, file the story is dull and just seems to be there to help guide you talking the world of Pandora, so just let them say what they need to say, and focus on the looting and slaughtering, and you will have a lot of fun with it, and will be able to keep coming back to this game months, possibly even years later, and it has an extremely high replay value.
If you haven't picked up a copy of this game yet, make sure you get the Game of the year edition, as it comes with all the DLC on one disc. The DLC will add approximately 20+ hours total to the original game, as well as giving you more opportunity to score better loot. The style of graphics in this game and the DLC is unprecedented when compared to either games in this genre. Most of the games I play are 3D, whereas this art style reminds me a lot of a comic book coming to life, and its brilliant. The other major downfall of this game is when you have leveled up, and you have to go to previous areas, you will well exceed the levels of the enemies around you, often being able to kill the with one or two shots, which is at first fun getting the easy kills, but then it gets annoying with how much you have to go back to previous areas for certain missions.
Overall, Gearbox did an excellent job with Borderlands, being able to give two different genres the ability to coincide with each other and still have great gameplay is a rare thing to find. This is definitely a title that will have you keep coming back and wanting to play as every character.
Score: 8.5/10 for great graphics and a great replay value, but its lacking a good storyline.
